gustaf broms föddes i Sverige 1966, bor och arbetar för närvarande i Vendelskogen. Gustafs praktik är engagerad i utforskandet av medvetandets natur, det dualistiska konceptet att vara NATUR (kroppens biologiska process), och att vara MIND (som intellektet tolkar upplevelsen). Han började med att arbeta med fotografi och installation, men det var framför allt två verk som fick honom att börja arbeta med de mer formlösa processerna i performance. 1991 brände Broms upp alla sina verk och insåg att intensiteten i handlingen och den kvarvarande askan vida överträffade allt han tidigare hade gjort. År 2005 slutförde han en serie verk med titeln "5 Faiths for a Brave New World" där han arbetade med föremål som var fysiskt för tunga för att kroppen skulle kunna röra sig. Dessa två erfarenheter skapade en längtan efter att utforska det formlösa och ledde fram till projektet med titeln "A Walking Piece" tillsammans med Trish Littler, där de två konstnärerna tillbringade 18 månader till fots genom Östeuropa. Resultatet betraktas som en teckning. För närvarande fortsätter Broms att arbeta med sin egen kropp som verktyg för att undersöka vad detta levande är.

gustaf broms works in the borderland between performance, video and installation. He was born in Sweden in 1966, currently lives and works in Vendelskogen. Gustaf's practice is engaged in the exploration of the nature of consciousness, the dualistic concept of being NATURE (the body's biological process), and being MIND (as the intellect interprets experience). He started by working with photography and installation, but it was above all two works that made him start working with the more formless processes of performance. In 1991, Broms burned all his works, realizing that the intensity of the act and the remaining ashes far surpassed anything he had previously done. In 2005 he completed a series of works entitled "5 Faiths for a Brave New World" in which he worked with objects that were physically too heavy for the body to move. These two experiences created a yearning to explore the formless and led to the project entitled "A Walking Piece" together with Trish Littler, where the two artists spent 18 months on foot through Eastern Europe. The result is considered a drawing. Currently, Broms continues to work with his own body as a tool to investigate what this living thing is.
